Spring ~ A Season To Remember

For The Beauty of the Earth
For the beauty of the earth
For the beauty of the skies
For the love
Which from our birth
Over and around us lies
Over and around us lies

Lord of all to thee we raise
This our joyful hymn of praise

For the beauty of the hour
Of the day and of the night
Hill and vale
And tree and flower
Sun and moon and stars of light

Lord of all to thee we raise
This our joyful hymn of praise

For the joy of human love
Brother, sister, parent, child
Friends on earth
And friends above
For a gentle
Thoughts and mild

Lord of all to thee we raise
This our joyful hymn of praise

For each perfect gift of thine
To our race so freely given
Graces human and divine
Flow'rs of earth and buds of heav'n
Flow'rs of earth and buds of heaven

Lord of all to Thee we raise
This our joyful hymn of praise, our joyful hymn of praise
This our joyful hymn of praise

Folliott Sandford Pierpoint

To remember has been a new addition to my rule of life and spiritual practise this year.  Ironically, the discipline of remembering the Lord has sadly highlighted how often I tend to forget Him.

When I get caught up in the work, anxiety and pressures of each day I realize how I am completely dependent on His Spirit to help me to remember Him.

However, there are days where I see a glimmer of progress as I continue in the pursuit to uncover the secrets of this discipline.

To remember is so much more than the recollection of past experiences or acts of God - it is a gift that God has given to us in order that we may know and enjoy Him in each present moment
.
To remember
 is to live awake
 in each
 present moment
 with God.

To remember is to live awake in Christ.

To remember is to know His voice.

To remember is to find our security and confidence in Christ.

To remember is to see evidence of the glory of God.

Nature has been particularly instrumental in helping me on this journey to remember the Lord.

The wonder of creation is probably one of the powerful gifts that force us to attention.  Beauty jolts us from the slumber, distraction and daze of our busy lives.

The intricacies of every brush stroke, the vibrant array of colours, the woven textures, fragrance and sounds of Spring are all evidence of the awesome display of His artistic and majestic handiwork that compels us to stop and take notice.  It is in this glorious revelation that we are confronted with our Maker, the Lord of heaven and earth.  It is when we encounter God in all His holiness that it causes us to remember our true posture as His creation.  This is the posture of awe and worship.
The beauty
 of Christ
 jolts us
 from
 slumber to
a posture
of worship.

Nature instinctively lives in the posture of worship.  The beauty of the earth teaches us to bow down, sing, cry out and declare God's glory.

Let us awake from our own slumber as Spring pushes forth from the cold barren earth.

"the earth is full of His unfailing love."
Psalm 33:5

Walk slowly to seek and breathe in His beauty so that we may be the fragrance of Christ to all we meet.

Like the trees of the forest, let us remember to sing for joy and be full of His unfailing love.  Give thanks for who He is, His provision, His splendour and His creativity.

As the heavens announce the evidence of His glory let us remember to proclaim each day who we are in Him so we may also testify to the fullness of Christ.

While the cherry blossoms unfold may it be a reminder that we too are a new creation.  There is hope and life in Christ no matter what we are going through.

Let us quiet ourselves and remember that God is fully trustworthy.  Although we cannot see all that is stirring in the deep recesses of the earth let us eagerly await in joyful confidence for what is about to unfold and be revealed.  God's love never disappoints.

"Flowers appear on the earth; the season of singing has come"

Song of Solomon 2:12

"Truth shall spring out of the earth; and righteousness shall look down from heaven."
Psalm 85:11

"Let the fields be jubilant, and everything in them; let all the trees of the forest sing for joy."
Psalm 96:12

  1. Oh, I loved every word, and every photograph. I have been stalled in my own writing, but feel as though God has helped me break through whatever wall was holding me back! It was so good and encouraging to find your comments on my two posts, and then to be led to this beauty. I am so glad you're still writing.

    1. Thank you so much for your encouragement Belinda - you truly have been the one of the most influential people who gave me courage and permission to write at all. Your writing inspires me and I will pray that God continues to break through the barriers you have experienced for what He is about to do in and through what you need to share.
