Everything Turns
To everything turn, turn, turn
There is a season turn, turn, turn
And a time to every purpose
Under heaven
Under heaven
The Byrds - To Everything There Is A Season
That first crisp autumn morning arrives at our doorstep unannounced. The chill in the air signals the trek into the depths of that dreaded hallway closet to swop out our worn sandals in hopes of finding a match for that black ankle boot.
Seasons have a way of sneaking up on us.
We are awakened out of our slumber and routine.
Reminded that we are not the One who is in control.
As creation transforms we catch a glimpse that something new is stirring.
The turning crimson and amber foliage demands notice and beckons us to return to wonder.
To taste and see His goodness.
Not just for what He has created or done but for who He is and for who we are in Him.
To seek, to gaze upon and to behold Him in all His splendour.
The beauty in each new season calls us to remember.
“A life contemplating
the blessings of Christ
becomes a life
acting the love of Christ.”
To cultivate a heart of gratitude is to learn to be still, quiet, to lean in to listen, to delight in Him and respond.
May this season urge you to pause, turn and return to wonder, awe and thanks.
Thank you, Lord
That you gather, welcome and invite us to reside in you |
For thoughtful gestures of love |
That You are our resting place |
For your breath-taking Autumn sunrise |
For joy in the ordinary - picking flowers at the market |
For the gift of light as it dances and sparkles as it peers through the turning leaves |
